For this project I wanted to make an experimental short film for the poster we did in Ex 2. The interview I chose was an interview with Ed Warren, showcasing a tour of all his haunted artifacts. I wanted to show fear in unexpected ways and things that weren’t predictable, using type and color. I filmed my project in a house that is considered haunted. In this home, things get thrown around the home unexpectedly from something we cannot explain. Filming in this house was pretty scary. The home being very homey brings the viewers an eerie, nostalgic feeling. The colors confuse and unsettle the viewers, while the type moves around in a stiff and unnatural way. This makes viewers sit on edge while they watch the film. The audio is Ed Warren talking about his artifacts in reverse; since you cannot understand what he’s saying, he sounds demonic and gives the viewer another thing to be afraid of.

I used four different softwares to make this. I used After Effects, Illustrator, Blender, and iMovie. I was able to learn and understand the basics of 4 programs, which is useful for the future. Overall, this project was very fulfilling to make, because of the things I learned and the video I created.
