Mapping Invisible Pollutants Threatening the Grand Canyon Ecosystem
Our environment is depreciating faster than we can restore it, let alone maintain it. Invaluable ecosystems are slowly dying due to humans’ actions. The Grand Canyon ecosystem needs restoration and preservation beyond the many efforts currently being undertake. As a designer, I want to do my part in helping to shore up support for more federal aid to save this incredible ecosystem and to heighten public awareness of the devastation. It’s often not enough to be told; seeing the scope of the problem makes it hard to forget. I have plotted active uranium mines on a map, as well as sites with rapidly degrading due to microplastic pollution. See for yourself. It’s now or never.
