I started my project with a hatred for Rae Dunn mugs. With thought, my hatred turned to pity for the collectors; the cult-like fandom of Rae Dunn. Collecting is an insatiable hobby for all of us insatiable people. I’m not a stranger to collecting nor do I condemn it, but I do find it an interesting study of the human condition. We fall into a trap of hoping for something to solve some problem or satiate our hungers. For me, discovering 100% of a region in a video game or watching media criticism for a deepened understanding of a show I’ve binged or a topic I’ve just barely heard about; these are satiating nuggets. hear me out is my attempt to allow players to wrestle with their own ideas about self-satisfaction and motivation. Some may consider a game that refuses to reward or punish to be a pointless endeavor. Others may enjoy the simplicity of it. A few may analyze the choices I have made.
