Ever Evolving
Identity is a fluid concept. An individual’s personal identity develops and evolves over the course of a lifetime. It is a never-ending process. The question, ‘Who am I?,’ and our questing for the answer changes and grows with each life experience, large and small. Reflecting on this topic, I wrote a series of poems to explore what the concept of personal identity means to me, then sought to translate them into visual form. I experimented with different visual vocabularies and expressions, just as I had experimented, in a manner of speaking, with poetic form. The process I undertook was one of self-discovery. Ever Evolving is a series of compositions that showcase what I have come to understand about the fluidity and ever-changing nature of personal identity.
