Monopoly, Taiwan Edition
There are many ways to learn new things. Games can be very effective. Monopoly is a classic economics-themed board game. With the roll of the dice, players buy, sell, and rent property; the player that accumulates the most wealth wins. The logic of the Monopoly project is based on a well-known Chinese idiom, 寓教於樂, which suggests an important cultural axiom, which is playing by learning and learning by playing. The object of this game is for players to learn about Taiwan and Taiwanese culture, identified by a series of icons designed to express essential visual characteristics of the country and culture. Much of the information we consume in our everyday lives is, first and foremost, visual. Using this universal mode of communication as a teaching tool makes learning fun and facts easy to remember.
